 This letter is to help explain the policies of  BMC TRANSPORTATION and BEHLEN MFG CO.  BMC Transportation is the transportation company for BEHLEN MFG CO., producers of BEHLEN COUNTRY livestock equipment, BEHLEN pre-fabricated  steel frame buildings, grain handling and storage systems and custom fabrication  for other manufacturing companies. The main plant is located in Columbus, Nebraska, with Behlen Country manufacturing plants in Baker City, Oregon and Huntingdon, Tennessee.

With this diversification we do require all Owner Operators to run all 48 states. Most of our loads are multiple drops and average four drops per trailer. There are single drop loads but there can be up to six drops.  Tractors cannot weigh more than 21,000lbs. and must be equipped to pull flatbed trailers. We do require Owner Operators to carry a minimum of 15 – four inch straps and ratchets, eight chains and binders, lumber tarps with eight foot drops, steel tarps, coil racks, and a bulkhead (headache rack) mounted on their truck.  BMC Transportation supplies the flatbed trailers, authority, licensing , permits, IFTA taxes,liability and cargo insurance.

There is also a sign-on bonus of $750.00.  This is paid one half after six months and the remaining half on your one-year anniversary.  All paid miles are figured using ALK PC Miler.  We pay both loaded and unloaded miles at the same rate. Deadhead miles are from unloading point to loading point.  Also paid is a fuel surcharge for both loaded and unloaded miles.  The surcharge is figured according to the national average and is update weekly.  Tarping is also paid at the rate of $40.00. This is for using your lumber tarps only. We also pay the IFTA Fuel taxes.
